New Door Game: Land of Devastation
Land of Devastation has been added to the door games menu.
In the far future, and the world has experienced our worst fears. A nuclear holocaust wreaked havoc on the surface of Earth and only one small group of humans in secluded Sacre Base remain unaffected. After the war, they worked to bring stability to the area around them and build the Puritron, which would filter radioactive contaminants out of huge quantities of air. Before it could be put to use, however, it was stolen by various factions of mutants and the pieces were scattered far and wide. As a new recruit, your job is to help establish order and, if possible, locate pieces of the Puritron and return them to Sacre Base.
New BBS and Website Features
I have added a number of new features to the BBS and to the website.
- Synchronet BBS software has been updated to the latest development version (compiled from CVS). I have not updated the actual BBS software in over a year so please let me know if you notice anything screwy.
- Arrowbridge II is now a League 77 inter-BBS connected game as opposed to a local game.
- bbs-scene.org global onliners have been added to the BBS logon, main menu, and website. Global oneliners utilize RESTful API calls to get and post oneliners between participating BBSes. You will have to be logged in to the telnet version of the BBS to actually post a oneliner.
- Local oneliners are available from the website under the “oneliners” menu.
- Who’s online and last caller data is available from the website under the “system” menu.

New Door Game: Usurper
At long last, the old favorite, Usurper is here! Play it now under the door games menu. This is v0.20e, recently released under the GPL.
Gang wars and partying. Sex, drugs and steroids. Fight monsters and other players in this fascinating game. Be prepared for violent and bizarre nonstop action. Become king, be a GOD, or fall in love and have children.

This awesome artwork is featured in Blocktronics Codename Chris Wirth art pack and will eventually be featured on the BBS itself. Big thanks goes to zeroVision for his excellent work.
New Website Goes Live
I have spent the last week redesigning the Masquerade website. My intention is to bring the Masquerade’s presence on the web up to modern standards. To accomplish this I added a feature oriented front page that highlights the strengths of the board, a sub-section detailing where to connect, the preferred terminal client, and web based connectivity options. In addition, the website now sports a proper blog, along with social networking integration with Twitter and Facebook. Finally, contact information is much more prominently displayed on the front page, and on its own dedicated page.
This new website has not supplanted existing functionality. Email, message areas, and file areas are still accessible, albeit n0t as well integrated as I would like. I hope to have these features more integrated in the future. Speaking of future plans, I would also like to include the BBS Scene’s wonderful “global oneliners” as well as the Masquerade’s own oneliners, last callers, and user list. Alas, that is a project for another day.
In any event, I hope the new website will make the Masquerade more attractive and accessible to new callers as well as our old friends.
